After burn-in the heater for 24 hrs, I tested all 3 Golden grid tubes on a bench power supply , 2 of the tubes worked fines, 1 tubes does not have current. The tube seller gladly refund for the non functional tube.I talked to a 6C33C OTL amp manufact...
The final ratings on later ST-style glass 45s was 10 watts on the plate and 300 volts cathode to plate max. Recommended bias current is between 34-36ma max. Short answer... I prefer no more than 34ma on the 45 cathode. I...

Two Questions:1) Would it be difficult to replace the switching supply with an external linear supply. You could even get an adjustable one and play with the voltage.2) I have emailed PP three times whether their units can accept 120V balanced power....

Something I think you guys are leaving out is power factor. This electricity stuff is not linear; voltage peaks do not necessarily track current. This is a problem with Edison supply, and perhaps a greater one with local generation. There are devices...

Wellington,In fact I do. That being said on another note I would like to plan a circuit board project for a power supply for any interested members.Thanks.Regards,Jam...

Finalizing parts ordering for full range Melquiades and I have one thing with is unclear to me, the plate to grid resistor on the 6E5PIs R23 50R is this correct ?There is another R23 in the driver power supply .http://www.goodsoundclub.com/PDF/Me...
So, you feel that high voltage filedcoil do excite the electromagnets driver somehow?
I will not call this exitation, let say it dynamic stability.
What voltage you feel is appropriate?[/quo...

Juice is not the problem but voltage. Kind of tough to get 500 volts from a pure DC power supply unless you have the Tesla's 6125 lithium batteries....
|
Dear Romy, your adventures with PurePower appear to be frustrating. As an alternative, have you considered contacting the equipment maintenance department of a local hospital to discuss equipment that they use to ensure pure power to instrument...

How about a motor generator? Both on the same shaft, and, you could even put a CVS constant voltage sine wave transformer in, to supply the electric motor part, to keep the speed constant. About 6 kVa should do it, for both channels. Fill u...

Morricab,
I do not know the “truth” and what I said are pure my speculations based upon what I hear and what I measure.
Yes, Lamm drivers at 310mA quite hard but do not forget that his objectives, besides everything, were to get out of his SET max ...

Eventually the right channel of the last revision of the 6-Channel Super Melquiades is complete. It has the new dedicated power supplies for single-stage amplifiers, the 600V Schottky rectification for 200V line and 1200V Schottky for 400V lines, the...
… I think that there is something more interesting going on here: what you have hereis rather a rare instance of an intelligent bypassing…
Yes, it is highly intelligent and looks like it is highly effective sonically. It...

Many audio publications grand some kind of idiotic rewards: “Product of Year”, “Editor Choose Award”, the “Best Sound at Show, “The Golden Ears” and so on. Trying to stay in the moronic awards-granting crowd I decided to form my own award: I would ca...

I think I mentioned before for the price of a Stromtank one can probably get two huge (datacenter level) EATON UPS (or a large extra battery pack) with theoretical output of <1% THD on linear loads - with enough power to driver the entire house, ...

Ok, I said a mistake, I like direct radiator (sealed speakers) too, but I often noticed more dynamic with horn speakers (I like every speakers (if properly tunned) except speakers that radiate with both sight of the drivers (bass-reflex, tapped horn,...

A clue! You are not using the ground on the PP3000 unit and have ferrite packages on the incoming mains supply.I am guessing that you have fitted a clamp directly around the power cord.If this is the case, then you are using the ferrite on the ground ...
… do yourself a favor and purchase an APC 600, one of the light tan models, not the noisy, smelly onyx models. Do not run it from the PP 2000 , run it from the wall. The PP 2000 will then shelter your other components from this newe...

Well, thanks for the heads up, I was planning on giving myself a PP2000 for Xmas, now I have to re think this.I used to have a 10Kva Isolation transformer and a DIY sort of Line conditioning system with a bunch of nice 4.7 mfd caps between Positive ...

It's kinda fun every now and then to try to figure out a BEP solution on my own. The following will illustrate why I don't do this very often...One problem that is very hard to deal with is efficiency, in the broadest sense. Without "hi-tech" compr...

Dear Romy, my understanding is that Lavry will update their customers' original (db Technologies) DA924 to the equivalent specifications as the new ones leaving the factory today and that includes (for a fee) replacing the power supply to u...

Wojtek, I do use 8 Ohm drivers, and I am mildly curious about the "pattern" thing. As I said in posted responses to Bud, I +/- accept the science but suspect the implementation in this case; however, I would be happy to give a listen...

It looks good to me. As you can see I have left plenty of room to add a couple of more channels. The bottom level contains the power transformers and relays. The diode bridges hang from the the middle shelf and the chokes and filters are on the top ...

Like I said above, I planned from the start to try battery power just because John Wright recommended it, and it seemed like up to that point we were talking the same language, which was borne out when i listened to the unit as I received it.&nb...

The Lavry DA-924 and Sansui TU-X1 are on separate equipment legs/chains and only come together at inputs to the amplifier. They also are on separate uninterruptible power supplies that are on separate legs of our wall supplies. Also,...

I'm about to do what amounts to building a new system. What i'd like to do is build/acquire a set of amps that can be hotrodded if-you-will in the vein of the melquiades re: channel tuning.my goals from a technical/mech perspective are the following: ...
